A much sorter post today, this is just a couple of links you may find useful. I’ve been at university the past 11 or so weeks, during my time there, Microsoft rolled out the update for Windows Live Essentials from 2009 to 2011. I personally have no issue with the update, apart from none of the software can actually access the internet within the Uni network.
I have no idea where this is,Lancaster University has a webcache proxy and that’s it, yet for some reason, WLE 2011 behaves as if there is no internet connection at all. Ordinarily, I’d spend my time looking at settings, forums and configuration files, but it was mid term and I just didn’t have time to mess around with it like I usually would.
WLE 2009 did, however work, so I decided to downgrade to that version. If you want to do this, you’ll first need to uninstall your current version of WLE, then reinstall the 2009 version. Here are the download links for both Windows Live Essentials 2009 and 2011. Click the links to download the appropriate file (I included the 2011 version in case you wanted to install WLE 2011 at a later time).
The files I’ve given links to are ‘web setup’ versions. This means that the file you’ll download here is small as it will downloaded the full software when you install it, this does mean that you’ll need an internet connection when you want to install the software.
